It is always what you get is what you pay.
But sometimes it’s not true!
Sometimes you get more than you pay and vice versa.
How do you know if you are going to buy the perfect pressure washer or not?
You do research beforehand. But very often you get stuck and get overwhelmed with a lot of information.
Does this sound familiar?
I am sure it’s a familiar story.
When you see a number of companies are making pressure washers and it’s hard to choose one out of many.
Particularly if you don’t know the good and bad side of the units and a bit of company background.
Hold on to your hat because, in this best Excell pressure washer reviews guide, I am exactly going to solve the puzzle for you.
1. Excell EPW2123100 ( 3100 PSI 2.8 GPM ) Pressure Washer Review
What attracts me about this Excell pressure washer is the amount of power cleaning it offers against the price it demands.
This Excell EPW2123100 unit offers you total 8680 cleaning unit which is huge I must say.
If you are not sure what the cleaning unit is;
Cleaning unit (CU) = PSI X GPM
So, in this case, you are getting 3100 x 2.8 = 8680 CU.
If you are not quite sure what does cleaning unit mean, just think it this way. The more cleaning unit, the more the pressure washer is capable of removing tough dirt in quick time.
You can understand the power of a unit more by measuring the CU than only considering the PSI or GPM.
Don’t want to make this CU tutorial longer. Let’s focus on the other benefits of this Excell gas pressure washer.
I like the 5 nozzles that color coded and well labeled.
You can use them from moderate cleaning to deep cleaning in various angles like 0, 15, 25, 40 degrees, and a black colored low-pressure soap nozzle.
Needless to say, a soap siphon is there for cleaning with soap/detergent efficiently.
You just have to put one end of the siphon into the soap/detergent bottle and attach the other end to the unit (right next to the high-pressure hose is attached).
After that simply use the black colored soap nozzle on the spray lance and you are good to go.
What I found most weird is the placement of the muffler which I believe is not correct.
The hose attaching and detaching place is right near to the muffler.
Not to mention, you got to keep yourself safe from hot muffler while handling the hose.
Better if you get a zip tie and tie the hose to the frame of the washer. That will save both the hose and you from the hot muffler.
Overall, I believe this unit is more than capable of removing stubborn dirt from anywhere in your house. A perfect washer for your car as well.
So despite having one or two hiccups I still recommend this unit because this is a quality unit and you can’t beat the price.
2. Excell EPW1792500 (2500 PSI 2.5 GPM) Gas Pressure Washer
This very Excell gas pressure washer is almost similar to the previous one that I reviewed except a few points.
So what are the core differences?
First and foremost the cleaning unit.
This time the cleaning unit is 2500 PSI X 2.5 GPM = 6250.
6250 CU itself is a good number but the previous one was 8680 CU.
The price of these two units reflects this as well.
The engine capacity of these two models is not the same either.
This version of the Excell gas pressure washer has got a 179cc engine whereas the previous one that I reviewed has got a 212cc engine.
Both are EXCELL OHV gas engine by the way.
Interestingly, the overall weight of this model is slightly more than the previous model. However, this doesn’t have any impact on the portability.
Although the cleaning unit for this unit is 6250 which is less than the previous one, don’t think this will not fit for your home usage.
For residential usage, anything ranging from 6000 – 8000 works perfectly to withstand tough jobs.
Now let’s get some info about the Excell brand itself. It has got a long and bright past. You won’t regret knowing that.
Excell Power Equipment Brand History
Get ready for the hell of a confusing story of Excell power equipment.
You heard it right!
But hold your nerve with me.
I will try my best to present the history of this brand as easy as possible.
First of all, the brand name “Ex-cell” was first trademarked in 1996.
By which company?
DeVilbiss Air Power Company – a Tennessee (U.S south) based air pressure company.
This Devilbiss Air Power company has got a bit of past as well.
Back in 1888, Dr. Allen Devilbiss formed the DeVilbiss Manufacturing Company to showcase and sell one of his inventions. It was a spray atomizer that sprays medicine in patients throat easily.
Dr. Devilbiss has got all the success to carry on his venture and in 1920, this company invented the paint spray gun.
It was also a great success as the car manufacturing and assembling companies started to use that spray gun widely to apply a protective coating to cars.
Then in 1926, this company started selling air compressors. So by this, they entered the power equipment industry.
During their journey from 1888-1990, they have changed their names and merged with other companies.
Then in 1996 Devilbiss, Air Power company trademarked the “Ex-cell” brand and the journey of Excell power tools begins.
This is not the end folks.
Devilbiss Air Power company with Ex-cell brand was acquired by Pentair Inc in 1999 August.
Later Pentair Inc sold its power tools part to Black & Decker in 2004. This power tools part includes the previously owned Devilbiss air power tools.
In 2010, Black & Decker became Stanley Black & Decker and in 2011, Black & Decker sold these assets to MAT (Midwest Air Technologies) Holdings Inc.
Till then MAT Holding Inc is the owner of Excell brand.
So, here is the path of Excell brand –
Devilbiss Air Power Company -> Pentair Inc -> Black & Decker (Later Stanley Black & Decker) -> MAT Holdings Inc.
The MAT Holding Inc is an expert in power tools, lawn, gardening, fencing, pet containment.
They also provide logistic solutions to different manufacturers selling through retail U.S channel.
They know how this industry works. A well-established company I must say.
MAT Holding Inc has got two other brand names for their power equipment.
Powermate and PROFORCE.
So are Powermate pressure washer and Excell pressure washer same?
Yes, kind of, as they are being manufactured by the same company now (MAT Holding Inc).
So, what are those good reasons to choose Excell products?
- You can’t beat the price.
- Powerful and high-quality products.
- Has got a long and successful past.
- Top class customer support.
- The current owner MAT Holdings Inc knows the power tool industry quite well.
Excell pressure washer GX200 engine is a huge fuel tanker which is enough for 4/5 hours of pressure washing. However, these fuel monsters are extremely powerful and quiet. Yes, they produce noise but not harsh. But, you need to take proper care of the pump and learn how to winterize a pressure washer.
Let’s sum up.
As you can see the Excell pressure washers has got a long past.
It is not some brand that came to the market recently and not tested by its users.
So many users have been accepting this brand.
The most important aspect that attracts the users is the unbeatable price this brand offers against the quality of power cleaning.
Having said that, no tools in the industry are free from one or two drawbacks.
In this best Excell pressure washer review article, I tried to mention exactly those with all the good features that these units provide.
In a nutshell, Ex-cell as a brand is playing true to its reputation from the beginning.
Now it’s your choice!
I’d love to know your thoughts.
