Looking for the best battery powered pressure washer?? Cordless equipment is what the next decade is all about. Now that even car companies are jumping on the battery bandwagon (ie:Tesla) its clear that battery tools can do more than just put up shelves
So what about the pressure washer industry? Can it be dominated by extremely portable cordless battery powered pressure washers? Last year I would of said no, not yet. This year, things are changing…
This past year has seen many new cordless battery powered pressure washers come to the market. But it’s still important to manage expectations.
Battery technology has made impressive strides but still is not equal to the typical electric or gas pressure washer specs. For context, a Tesla Model S battery weighs 1200lbs! In comparison a Chevy small block V8 weighs in at only 575 lbs…
To dominate the pressure washer industry a cordless unit must run 2-3 hours till next charge and provide similar PSI like to an electric or gas pressure washer.
How is it that laptops took over desktops? Battery backup and similar performance to a desktop plus mobility. This is the same for pressure washers too.
This our #1 choice and actually the one I bought for my personal use after doing this review.
This is unit is new to the market but already getting better reviews than its competitors. It has a decent PSI, so more than just a glorified hose sprayer.
It comes with 2 40v batteries. Each battery will give you 20 to 30 minutes run time. So won’t have to stop what you’re doing to recharge batteries for most tasks.
One thing to keep in mind when comparing battery operated tools, the battery is the biggest expense. So when comparing a $100 unit to a $200 one, be sure to compare the number of batteries in the kit and their amp hours (AH). Also, a higher voltage battery will have lower AH’s and still be comparable.
So this guy is going to be great for light duty projects. Patio or deck cleaning (but not stripping), washing your car or cleaning your vinyl siding. It will also be great for remote jobs. Maybe cleaning a barn or shed on the back 40. Or rinsing saltwater off your boat or wave runner. But these task will require you to bring your own fresh water.
One final note, this product is almost identical to the Rockpals Cordless Pressure Washer. But the Rockpals says its 870 psi. More power the better right? I’m sceptical. A number of reviewers cited weak pressure. One reviewer even commented that the manufacturer offered them money to delete their review! FYI, that’s why I bought the Bergwerk.
This one is one of the few cordless pressure washers that come close to bridging the power gap of a typical pressure washer.
Sun Joe has been developing cordless pressure washer for a few years. This model is a further development of their previous model SPX 6000. (They actually have a couple of options so you might peruse their Amazon store to find a good fit). The improvements are mainly on the TSS (total stop system: automatically shuts off pump when trigger is not engaged to save energy and prolong pump life and bucket supply).
The numbers, though not great, are actually the best stats of the cordless power washers reviewed here. It will serve well enough while you are out in the field or in a remote place where there is no electric connection. Detachable bucket system is handy frees you from the garden hose when necessary, all of which makes this unit the most portable.
Mobile and rolls smoothly
Pressure select option
Quality hose and lightweight
The bucket has an odd handle to carry
Not enough pressure for big problem areas
High wear possibility in battery compartment door
Wheels do not promise longevity
The 40V 5.0-Ah battery provides back up for 30-40 minutes in continuous pressure washing, enough for at least a couple car washings.
The top-loading detachable bucket is made better in the new improved model. This power washer is perfect for a little on the road RV cleaning or any on the road or remote cleaning project. The covers are built better to stop spillage while pulling around.
There are three pressure selections, 507 PSI/650 PSI/800 PSI for the bucket. To achieve the 1160 PSI you need to attach a garden hose with water supply. Your home water pressure is required to get that extra 1160 PSI. As always, the smaller the nozzle angle the higher the PSI.
This is not a general use pressure washer. This is for when your hose sprayer isn’t enough (or unavailable) and you don’t want to pull out your 3000 psi beast of a pressure washer. There’s a middle ground for small projects and ultra-convenience where this power washer is a good fit.
People make a mistake while selecting a cordless one is expecting everything in a budget. While the Worx is great in innovation it lacks in power. If customers are looking for similar performance with a similar price from a corded and cordless one, they are going to be disappointed.
One thing is clear. This Worx cordless pressure washer is truly uber portable, it still lacks the power to compare with corded power washers.
Let’s have a look at the features:
Five spray angles
2 rechargeable batteries with a dual charger 20V – 2 AH
Battery backup is about 25 minutes
It draws water from any available source
This thing is not for cleaning your driveway. Or for cleaning heavy stains like paint. You can wash your car, wash away some bird poop or clean your window. A great option for a portable washer.
With this second Worx model (they offer several actually), they did something clever. Worx offers a lot of cordless tools in their line up and have designed interoperability into their batteries. Mix and swap keeps your portable tool working longer and you don’t have 5 different battery types laying around.
So, maintaining the same standard batteries, they combined two 20v batteries into one portable pressure washer to give you a 40v tool without having to invest in new batteries. This bumps up the specs to 450 PSI and .9GPM
Dual port charger – you can charge both your 20V battery concurrently
Battery Charge Indicator
Offers various package options
What is the best cordless pressure washer?
BERGWERK Cordless 40v Power Washer – This is the one I personally purchased
Sun Joe SPX6001C-XR Cordless Pressure Washer – The highest battery powered PSI
VARSK Portable 20v Pressure Washer – The best value option
Worx WO7046 Hydroshot Battery Pressure Washer – Runner up
Worx WG644 Power Share Hydroshot 40v Battery Operated Pressure Washer – Runner up
Are Battery Powered Pressure Washers any good?
Yes, battery powered pressure washers are especially good for small jobs where convenience is prioritized over power.
Does the Worx Hydroshot Really Work?
Yes, the Worx Hydroshot does work for small jobs where convenience and light weight are desirable.
Should You Get One?
These are not the only models. Some manufacturers like Karcher, Greenworks are manufacturing cordless pressure washers too, but the industry is in it’s infancy. But that being said, this past year has seen double or triple the number of new power washer available.
These units are super convenient and perfect for light duty washing, rinsing saltwater off your Kayak ect… maybe even a moderate deck cleaning.
But the fact is, your gonna have to drag a hose around for most jobs anyways. Dragging an extension cord too, really isn’t much more hassle. If you don’t need anymore water than you can fit in a bucket, then maybe cordless is the way to go…
For light duty and no electrical outlet handy… maybe. Then again don’t forget gas power washers are cordless too;)
I hope you won’t disagree with me when I say: “Powerful pressure washers make cleaning so much more fun”.
And if you have the most powerful electric pressure washer, then congratulation! You are having even more fun. But if your worried you could be having even more fun, that is to say, even more power… read along. So I’ve spent 13 hours searching and researching the most powerful electric pressure washers, and I’m happy to share the fruits of my labor. So, without further ado let’s jump right in.
What is “Most Powerful” in this area?
At some point in time we seem to realize the garden hose and bucket aren’t enough any more. Then we get a pressure washer. Likewise, though we’ve fallen in love with the ease of a pressure washer, some cleaning projects still require more. So we decide we want an extremely powerful machine that wreaks havoc on the persistent spots.
To determine this for electric pressure washers, we need to talk about cleaning power. Cleaning power is measured in cleaning units(CU), which is the product of GPM (gallons per minute ) X PSI (pounds per square inch). It takes both of these, not just PSI to increase the amount of work your pressure washer can handle.
An example might be your electric heater or even light bulb. Higher wattage means the more heat that will be produced. A 100 watt light bulb is brighter than a 60 watt light bulb. Watts are determined by multiplying voltage times amperage.
CU’s are the pressure washer equivalent of wattage (though your electric pressure washer has wattage too, this isn’t the best indicator of how much work it can accomplish to clean).
4 GPM, 3000 PSI pressure washer will have 12000 CUs of cleaning power.
So despite all these acronyms, its actually pretty easy… The higher the cleaning units, the more powerful that pressure washer is in terms of cleaning power. You just need to multiply the GPM and PSI. The math will do the rest. There you have the basics. Now let’s get down to the facts.
Please read the full discussion. But in case you’re in a hurry, here are the top picks.
I know you want your house and the dirtiest places to shine like new. Also, you want the job done quickly, you only have so many Saturday afternoons. So having one of the most powerful electric pressure washers will be awesome!
This kind of powerful pressure washer can remove those age-old stains and grime with ease. Grease, oil, mud, mildew nothing can withstand this pressure. But, let me warn you with great power comes… you guessed it, great responsiblity. There are situations where this power can cause damage. It’s easy to get in the cleaning groove, because pressure washers are so effective, and then start washing something we have no business washing with a pressure washer. Then our Saturday afternoon cleaning project becomes a Saturday night repair project.
That means if you are washing your car or patio with this pressure washer, you have to be careful enough not to damage any rubber or the color coating of the car or patio. You may need to switch the pressure washer nozzle and/or maintain a safe distance from the vehicle.
So now that your determined to be uber careful, let’s look at the chief targets of your cleaning angst…
What You Can Clean With Powerful Pressure Washers?
I know you have something in mind already that you want to do with a heavy duty pressure washer. But just to make things clear, here is a bunch of things(not limited ) that you can do with your new toy:
1. Cleaning Walls: Brick, concrete wall cleaning has always been a challenge. Not only you, for mankind too. But as you need a greater flow of water for this cleaning purpose, a 3000 psi pressure washer can be the answer to that. With a greater reach and power, you can do the cleaning in minutes.
2.Concrete Driveways: I have seen people just brushing their driveway hour after hour, just to remove a few grimes. It is never going to work properly. Just a waste of time and detergent. Make this work super easy with a powerful pressure washer.
3. Heavy Equipment: If you have some heavy equipment caked up with mud, switch to a big pressure washer. Equipment working for a farm or on a job site tends to face situations like this. For one or two pieces of equipment, one pressure washer is OK. But if you have a bunch of them, then you’ll probably want to gets some bids from professional pressure washer contractors.
4. Wooden Surfaces: Bet you felt the horrible pain cleaning the porch, deck, even patio. But, look no further if you want that done in half the time and effort. A powerful pressure washer is an answer for you. A deck covered with filthy mildew can easily be cleaned with a properly adjusted pressure washer. I said properly adjusted as the wooden surface may be on the softer side. You just need to be a little choosy here with the nozzle. Use a nozzle that creates more acute angle and you need to keep more distance between the wand and surface.
Most Powerful Electric Pressure Washers Reviewed
I know when it comes to power, gas pressure washers get all the attention. But electric pressure washers can still be very powerful, and with out the head aches of gas engine maintenance. In fact the first one is monster of pressure washer (though mostly for reference as you will see). And next you will find some more practical 3000 psi electric pressure washers reviewed.
This shark brand pressure washer is a very powerful electric pressure washer at 5 GPM. One of the most powerful, but least practical. This brand is owned by Karcher. But first, why most powerful?
So applying our CU math, we get: 5,000 PSI X 5 GPM = 25,000 CU. That is an insane amount of power!
Now for the bad news, this is 3 phase 480v machine and so only a few readers will be able to put this beast to work. Generally speaking, mostly just industrial locations will have access to this kinda power. But there are few garages out there that have phase converters and 3 phase generators to run specialized wood lathes, planers ect… So if that’s you, maybe this pressure washer is worth considering (and yes I’m aware of the Irony of using a gas generator to run an electric pressure washer instead of just buying a gas pressure washer 😉 but everyone’s situation is different)
Very good motor
Cage frame for protection
Obviously, it is heavy
Risk of damaging items (if you do not maintain safety)
3 Phase 480v
Thirsty power consumption
This machine comes with a portable roll cage frame for great support and movement. It is going to be a bit heavy as it comes with an industrial Baldor motor at 20HP Electric 460V 26amp 3phase for extra power!
This electric pressure washer might not be a good fit for your house. This 5000 PSI giant machine is great for industrial facilities and few other specialized locations. So, lets talk about some more practical examples.
This unique model electric pressure washer is rocking the market with its 3000 PSI mark. How much power does that mean? 3000 PSI X 2.2 GPM = 6600 CUs of cleaning power. That is going to be a powerful pressure washer to play around with.
Very Powerful & Quiet Motor
Beautifully Ergonomic and Mobile
Extra Attachment toys
Onboard Storage for Those Extras
Automatic Safety System
Extremely Manageable Power Cord Holder
Long Pressure Hose for Greater Usability
Good Customer Service
Family Owned Business
1 Year Warranty
Proprietary Hose Connections
Built in GFI (which is good) can be bulky and a tough fit for some outdoor outlets
All right, now let’s get deeper. It takes power from a brushless and quiet motor. What’s cool about this is that when you release the trigger, the motor stops.
The system is called Total Stop System. This means when you release the pistol like trigger of the spray gun, it will automatically shut off the pump. This will help to reduce power and water consumption. The flexible 30 foot will be sufficient to use anywhere.
Compact and upright design with axle mounted wheels for good mobility. You are going to have a full set of interchangeable nozzles for versatile pressure washing job. In addition to that, they are packed with turbo nozzle too. This machine has a built-in safety lock system dedicated to saving energy and water.
So you have a huge garage with all the space you’ll ever need… yeah? me neither. If you’re looking for something that you can store easily, even in a crowded garage then switch to this one. Power without bulk! With 1.85 GPM this might not be the most powerful electric pressure washer reviewed here, but its compact design gives plenty of power per pound.
This electric pressure washer generates 3000 PSI with 1.85 GPM, which is impressive. You can get down to wash under a car. Even those hard to reach areas get easy to wash with the long spray wand.
This much pressure is enough for removing road tar, tree sap and insect splats from cars, grease deposits from concrete, oil, and rust. There is even an on-board detergent tank. This feature is perfect for removing dust and dirt from windows, cars, boats and many more.
Built-in holster for spray wand storage
35′ Long power cord w/ GFCI
Interchangeable nozzle adapters
#1 Biggest Con, too many 1 star reviews (keep in mind this is also the cheapest machine reviewed here by a good margin) – makes me worry about QC. Be prepared to test and return if necessary, with in the 30 day return window. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between grumpy lazy consumers and real product QC issues…
Another bulky GFI cord end, may not fit every exterior weather proof outlet.
Conveniently located 4 quick connect nozzles… unless your actually swing this thing around and getting work done, in which case my be easy to lose or get hung up.
Water intake is right between the wheels making it difficult to move around when hooked up.
One important thing with pressure washing is safety. And this machine gives you some safety. That is to say, this machine will automatically shut off the pump whenever the trigger is not engaged. Safety lock switch keeps you a step ahead in the race of saving power and water.
I loved the pistol style grip with trigger spray it offers. Great for firing pleasure! This spray wand ensures efficient washing with less water.
This one is not exactly 3000 psi high capacity but worth the mention as it is the biggest seller. I suspect that some shoppers mistakenly glance at the model number (SPX3000) and assume PSI. But this isn’t the case. Their standard SPX3000 is only 2030PSI and the one here reviewed is 2800 PSI. Recently my friend switched to electric power pressure washer from gas. This is the model he opted for.
Sun Joe has built a great deal of trust around their brand. Their recent brushless technology is great although they have a good history of electric pressure washer manufacturing. Again this model is a bigger version of popular SPX3000.
Remember our criteria above? PSI x GPM tells us the real work that the machine can do. You’ll notice on this model that SunJoe upped the psi by reducing the GPM. A little bit of a cheat if you ask me but the 2800 psi is still fairly powerful.
Built-in holster for spray wand storage
Total stop system
Consistently works well
35 foot power cord
Onboard detergent tank[/su_list][/su_box]
Low GPM makes the higher PSI a wash for many applications
Needs improvement on the connectors
Hose length is fairly long to work with. Total stop system is available in most electrical systems now a days. So, there’s nothing to brag about it.
(This product has been removed from Amazon’s catalog. We’ve left the review up in case you can find the product elsewhere)
This machine has everything you need to get for tough cleaning jobs at a much lower cost compared to other electric pressure washers. Its 3000 PSI and 2 GPM power are great for tough stains, which is 6000 CUs of power to be exact.
Easy to use with adjustable wands
Maximum cleaning power
Large sized wheels for good mobility
Includes bonus turbo wand
Power cord managing reel
Comes with a deck brush and fixed scrubbing brush[/su_list][/su_box]
Lacks a male to male adapter for the garden hose
Less pressure without the turbo wand[/su_list][/su_box][/su_column][/su_row]
Let me assure you, this machine is very powerful as the manufacturer promises. It generates up to 3000 PSI with the 2000-Watt motor. For this PSI you need to use the turbo wand. For the other wand, it will generate 1450 PSI.
The 2 GPM mark doesn’t make it the most powerful electric pressure washer but still manages to get those tough grimes or stains out. This machine comes with a tank for detergent making it a great choice if you are worried about cleaning.
I have talked with an owner of this pressure washer. He is very happy with the performance of this one. According to him, the motor runs smoothly without straining for a long period of time. He became a fan of it with the performance of its patio and deck cleaning.
In addition, you can use it for cleaning SUV too! It consumes a space of 35.1 x 14.4 x 13.3 inches and weighs about 27 pounds. And remember to use a 15-amp breaker just in case you are not a fan of running out of power in the middle of your job.
So this is a newcomer to the high power electric pressure washer arena. It just started selling on Amazon.com and is climbing the charts fast. We don’t know how they did it but they claim 4000PSi with 3 GPM which gives you 12,000 CU’s (almost double that of our Top Pick in the chart above)! and it still plugs into a standard 20 amp receptacle!
To be clear, this is early days yet. The reviews are stellar (4.9 stars), but there are only a handful of them so far. But, our Amazon listing research software (estimated results) is telling us that only after a few weeks sales are already higher than any of the other pressure washers listed in this review. It shouldn’t be long before we have some more reviews to back up any purchasing decisions.
Keep an eye on this one, we sure are!
Let’s Check out a Video:
Here’s a video of how a 2800 psi pressure washer feels like working with.
How to Choose a Powerful Electric Pressure Washer?[Main Must-Have Features]
From the above listing of electric pressure washers, you have noticed there are some powerful pressure washers for home use(regular). Now, refer to the first option I discussed.
This is a premium heavy duty pressure washer. If you are still looking for something like this, you must consider some must-have feature before making the final choice. Here are the features you need to look for.
Thought the below model is gas ideal electric models will have some similar features, premium pump and engine, steel frame, industrial level tires, and longer power cord.
The Advantages of Powerful Electric Pressure Washers
1. Noise Level
Noise level is one of the main features of electric pressure washers. No matter how premium pressure washer you are using, no one wants to wear earplugs while working on a pressure washer (though headphones and your fav podcast usually make the job go faster:). An electric pressure washer has a minimal amount of noise to get you through that.
2. Low Maintenance
Regardless of the size, electric pressure washers offer very low maintenance. Electric motors are made in such a way that you will never need to open the inside for maintenance. There’s no grease involved here as there is oil seal. Which means the maintenance is really really low. Yet, winterizing it remains an important step.
However, for some models, you’ll need to stop for a while and start again due to the heat generated while being in operation. Some manufacturers produce water cooled motor to speed up the cooling process and eliminating mid work stoppage.

Absolutely safe unless you are not exposing yourself in front of a bear, willingly! These washers are eco-friendly in the sense that they do not emit harmful gas. The only safety issue can be a high amount of water pressure. This is something that you need to take care of by yourself. Always wear safety goggles, safety boots to save your feet and arm from the high water jet.
2. What kind of detergent to use in a powerful washer?
There is no limit. For the best possible result read the user manual or ask the community. But, for a quick tip, the concentration is important for a good solution. This differs brand to brand or model to model. This is why you will find your answer in the user manual.
WOW! That was a long journey for the quest for a powerful electric pressure washer. Let’s give it a break here and sum up.
If your still on the fence, maybe even ambivalent… I don’t blame you. Asking 3000PSI of an electric home use pressure washer is a big nut to crack. You very well may of decided that not any of the models reviewed here are a perfect fit. They’ve all got their pro’s and cons (even more so than normal tool shopping).
If this is you then I recommend letting the electric 3000 PSI industry mature a little bit and either:
Seeing your car sparkling clean is a wonderful feeling. It fills you with a sense of accomplishment seeing your car looking like new again and makes you want to get out and show it off in the neighborhood.
However, you have to be careful with these as one wrong move and you could end up chipping your car’s beloved paintwork or damage its tires and interior.
To prevent you from potentially damaging your car, we are going to walk you through the steps of pressure washing your car effectively and safely.
If you haven’t got the spare time to wash your car very often, a pressure washer will help wash it efficiently in very little time leaving you with a pristine automobile.
Let’s take a look at what pressure washers do and how to use them effectively below.
What you’ll need to pressure wash your car
Before you begin to wash your car clean of dirt and mud, there is a list of things you will need. These are:
A pressure washer with a 40-degree or 25-degree tip
A water outlet
An electrical outlet (Only necessary if you are using an electric pressure washer)
How to pressure wash a car
Now that you have all of the items required for pressure washing your car, let’s take a look at the steps required.
Firstly, there are a few factors to look out for when buying a new pressure washer. You need to find the right nozzle and a good pressure washer to safely wash your car.
You can do this by checking the appropriate PSI (pounds per square inch) and GPM (gallons per minute) of the pressure washer before you invest in one.
If the PSI value is higher on your washer, the force of the water being shot out will be higher. A higher GPM means that the washer will release higher amounts of water. A PSI that is too high could damage your car’s paintwork so keep this in mind.
You should also check the cleaning units. These are found via a calculation of PSI x GPM = cleaning units. The best car pressure washers have around 1900 to 2800 cleaning units. Therefore, your washer should have a PSI of 1200 to 1900 and a GPM of at least 1.4 to 1.6.
Once you have chosen and purchased your pressure washer, you are almost ready to go. Just plug in and prepare the washer for cleaning.
Now you’re ready to pressure wash your car!
Parking your car and getting the pressure washer ready
Park your vehicle in a crowd-free space. The best areas are usually in a driveway, behind your house, or in a garage where you have a water supply nearby and an electrical connection to connect the water pressure
Set your pressure washer to the widest and least powerful setting
Clean your car and lightly rinse off dirt, mud, or other tougher contaminants. You can use an attachable airbrush to make this job quicker
Rinse the brush thoroughly to remove grit and debris
Choose a detergent and place this in a bucket with water to dilute
Fill the detergent tank on the pressure washer with the diluted detergent. If your pressure washer doesn’t include a detergent tank, place the diluted detergent on your car’s surface with a cloth
Attach your pressure washer to a water outlet, running tap, or tank
Wash the car
Turn on the pressure washer and spray it across your car
Spray the detergent over your car for five minutes
Turn your washer’s tip to 40-degrees and spray the water once more.
Use a slightly stronger setting for the paintwork than with a glass area
If you have a variable nozzle, adjust the power and the width accordingly to the area you are rinsing. If not, stand about one meter from the car
Rinse the car off with the pressure washer
Apply water and detergent smoothly to the front and back of your vehicle as well as its wheels and tires
Thoroughly rinse with the pressure washer
Dry your whole car with a clean cloth to help it look shiny
It’s as simple as that! Your car should now be gleaming, shiny, and bright. Now all you have to do is go and show it off to the neighbors!
Pressure washer features
Here are some useful pressure washer features to get the job done efficiently and easily.
Long hose - This should be at least five meters long for easy maneuvering around the car
Wheels - The more portable the washer is, the easier it is to move around the car
Nozzle attachments - These should allow you to change the spray’s direction
Jet nozzle settings - Allows you to clean parts of your car more safely preventing possible damage
Angled nozzle - This can direct water skywards to clean wheel arches easily
Attachable foamer bottle - This saves you from carrying around a container all the time
The advantages of using a pressure washer on your car
There are many benefits of cleaning your car with a pressure washer. Firstly, they provide a more efficient and easier cleanup operation in a short amount of time.
They also remove stubborn or hard dirt and certain contaminants from your vehicle thanks to the water’s force. Hand washing wouldn’t herald the same results.
The fact pressure washers use a high water force to remove dirt also means you don’t have to get your hands dirty and wet. They also prevent scratches on your car’s paintwork which can easily occur with hand washes that use brushes. However, too much force can chip the paintwork.
Pressure washers are the most efficient tools for washing your car effectively.
Now that you know how to pressure wash your car and the requirements you need to check before doing so, your car can look clean and new in a matter of minutes.
However, a word of caution. Power washing can degrade a concrete surface. Using the wrong nozzle, excessive pressure, and spraying too close can cause real damage. Always keep and always check the user manual.
Best psi to set to pressure wash your car
The good news is that a pressure washer is safe to use to clean your car provided, however, that you use the right amount of pressure.
We would recommend a psi between 1200 and 1900 to pressure wash your car, or any other type of vehicle.
Any pressure above the 1900 psi mark could quite easily cause serious damage to your car’s paint job.
Remember also to not get too close the paint surface with your nozzle and use a wider angle nozzle so as not to do any damage.
As you might imagine the best psi for pressure washing your walls depends on what these said walls are made out of.
Painted soft-grain wood siding, and aluminum siding should be washed at 1200 to 1500 psi.
On the other hand, however, rugged unpainted building materials such as brick, stone, vinyl, and steel, will need to be pressure washed at a psi of 2500 to 3000.
Best psi to set to pressure wash garden walls
When it comes to pressure washing garden walls that are made of brick or made of concrete, we would recommend using a psi of 3000.
You would also be well advised to use the tip with the widest possible angle in order to prevent any unnecessary degrading of the wall.
Best psi to set to pressure wash your patio
Pressure washing your patio is pretty similar to pressure washing your driveway. To get the job done right you need a psi of about 3000.
Best psi to set to remove dried on gum from the ground
When gum has been stuck on the ground and trodden over many years, you may be concerned that it won’t ever come off.
However, the good news is that you can get rid of it. But you will need a very psi of 3000. Fortunately, though, it doesn’t need to be hot water. Even cold water can manage it at that psi.
Best psi to set to remove moss
To remove unwanted moss from the ground or the bottom of walls, you will need to set your pressure washer to 2000 to 2800 psi.
What psi range do I need my pressure washer to have?
If you wish to get yourself a pressure washer that you intend to use on multiple surfaces, then, clearly, you must get one that features adjustable pressure.
A pressure washer that’s able to tackle all the surfaces we mentioned above would have to be adjustable between 600 and 3000 psi.
A pressure washer that can work at a psi of 3000 should be more than sufficient for most jobs.
So, in terms of answering the question “What is a good psi for a pressure washer?”, the best answer is that it depends.
Washing wooden decking doesn’t require anywhere near as high a psi as you’d need for pressure washing concrete. And you should also be careful not to use too high a psi on your car.
If you’re pressure washing wooden surfaces only, then a pressure washer that can handle 2000 psi will be sufficient. If, however, you plan on pressure washing concrete or brick, then you will need a machine that can handle 3000 psi.
One part of owning a pressure washer that can often go forgotten is knowing how to properly store it in the offseason, for the most part, this means winter.
However, in some more temperate climates, this means storing it for a longer period of several weeks when you will not be using it. Many owners will complain about having to do this, and some will ignore it altogether. It only takes a few minutes and saves you a lot of hassle.
It gives extra life to your pressure washer and ensures it is prepared to get back to cleaning when it is needed.
This process is the act of draining your pressure washer or otherwise known as winterizing it.
Why Do You Need To Drain A Pressure Washer?- Winterize.
You may wonder why you should bother draining and winterizing your pressure washer.
The truth is that even if you store your pressure washer in a seemingly secure location such as a garage or shed, it should still be winterized if there is little chance you will be using it for a while, especially during cold seasons. Because these areas are not insulated enough to protect your pressure washer against savagely freezing temperatures.
Even if you were to store your pressure washer in somewhere like a basement or an attached garage where temperatures rarely fall beyond freezing, any prolonged period of inactivity can be damaging in itself.
These longer storage periods, as well as cold temperatures, can do a real number of the internal seals of your pressure washer. It can lead to dry rot or cracking in the pump and fuel systems.
Not only that, but gasoline can also go stale in around about 30 days, this is because the ethanol in the fuel can lead to deterioration that can create rust, corrosion, and a buildup that can clog fuel lines, and then any water still in the machine can freeze, expand and burst water hoses.
Mold and mildew are also a common occurrence in un-attended pressure washers.
No matter whether you have a gas or electric pressure washer both should be drained and winterized to protect the machine. Though each had a different technique for doing this. Let us take a look at how you should do this for each, to protect your pressure washer.
Gas Pressure Washer Draining.
Before we get into any details about how you should store your gas-based pressure washer, you should be cautious with any gas-powered appliances.
Any combustible, such as gasoline, stored inside your home, especially for long periods, should have the gas removed from the tank and kept far away from any potential igniter.
This can be dangerous, hence it is best not to store your gas-powered power-washer inside the same building in which you sleep and live unless you have removed the gas.
Now let us look into how you should drain and winterize your pressure washer if it is gas-run.
STEP BY STEP
First of all, if you have no plan to use your pressure washer for at least the next thirty days then you need to store it properly to protect its engine. Get yourself a fuel stabilizer and prepare to remove detergent and water from the pump system.
Secondly, you should add the fuel stabilizer to the gas tank and run the engine for a couple of minutes to fully circulate the stabilizer throughout the system.
Thirdly you need to remove the water and cleaning solution from the pressure washer. Get a bucket of clean tap water ready.
Now you will need to hook up your pressure washer to your garden hose like you usually would. Place the detergent feed tube into that bucket of clean tap water and pull the trigger with the low-pressure nozzle and let it run for a few minutes to clean the system of detergent. Then turn the hose off and remove it from the inlet.
Next, you need to pull the trigger once more and drain all of the water from the system.
Finally, add an anti-freeze ‘pump saver’ to the pump inlet if you live in an area where temperatures may drop to near freezing. This will help to protect your pressure washer from cold temperatures and possible mineral deposits.
Electric Pressure Washer Draining
Electric pressure washers get rid of the need to tackle gasoline-related protective measures. So you will only need to take care of the pump system for long-term storage.
STEP BY STEP
First of all, you want to start by getting that clean bucket of tap water.
Place the suction hose into your clean water-filled bucket, attach your garden hose and turn it on.
Now turn on your pressure washer and hold the gun to spray the water for 2 minutes, clearing the system of all detergent.
Then disconnect the garden hose and pull the gun once more to empty the system of all water.
Store the pressure washer indoors and in a warm spot to best prevent any freezing or seal damage. You can add ‘pump saver’ antifreeze into the pump outlet to protect the internal seals too.
Store Your Pressure Washer
When storing your pressure washer after draining it, you should store it somewhere safe and warm. A dry indoor spot in a garage or basement is a good choice.
So is a garden shed as long as water and frost are unlikely to get in. Remember that you should be careful with gas-powered pressure washers if you are storing them in an area attached to your home, and keep them away from possible igniting appliances.
You can also buy a storage cover that will help to keep your powerwasher free of dust and rust during storage, they also prevent pests from getting into it.
If you do decide to store it outside, you will need a cover to protect it, these are often made from cloth of polyester with a water-resistant coating.
If you store your pressure washer outside, even after draining you still need to keep it well protected so a thick and heavily waterproofed cover is the best option.
