Best Cordless Pressure Washers [2021 Battery Options]

By Power Tools

August 10, 2021

Looking for the best battery powered pressure washer?? Cordless equipment is what the next decade is all about.  Now that even car companies are jumping on the battery bandwagon (ie:Tesla) its clear that battery tools can do more than just put up shelves

So what about the pressure washer industry?  Can it be dominated  by extremely portable cordless battery powered pressure washers?  Last year I would of said no, not yet.  This year, things are changing…

Best cprdless pressure washers

This past year has seen many new cordless battery powered pressure washers come to the market.  But it’s still important to manage expectations.

Battery technology has made impressive strides but still is not equal to  the typical electric or gas pressure washer specs.  For context,  a Tesla Model S battery weighs 1200lbs!  In comparison a Chevy small block V8 weighs in at only 575 lbs…

To dominate the pressure washer industry a cordless unit must run 2-3 hours till next charge and provide similar PSI like to an electric or gas pressure washer.

How is it that laptops took over desktops? Battery backup and similar performance to a desktop plus mobility. This is the same for pressure washers too.

If manufacturers can do the same for a pressure washer, this industry might be dominated cordless pressure washers in the next few years like so many other industries. The emergence, and maybe even dominance, of cordless power washers is inevitable.  In addition, lithium-ion batteries are improving capacity day by day.

But for light duty use, your going to love the convenience of a cordless pressure washer.

Best Battery Power Cordless Pressure Washers on the Market

1. BERGWERK Cordless 40v Power Washer

This our #1 choice and actually the one I bought for my personal use after doing this review.

Here’s why:

This  unit is new to the market but already getting better reviews than its competitors.  It has a decent PSI, so more than just a glorified hose sprayer.

It comes with 2 40v batteries.  Each battery will give you 20 to 30 minutes run time.  So you won’t have to stop what you’re doing to recharge batteries for most tasks.

One thing to keep in mind when comparing battery operated tools, the battery is the biggest expense.  So when comparing a $100 unit to a $200 one, be sure to compare the number of batteries in the kit and their amp hours (AH).  Also, a higher voltage battery will have lower AH’s and still be comparable.

The key features it has are:

One final note, this product is almost identical to the Rockpals Cordless Pressure Washer.  But the Rockpals says its 870 psi.  More power the better right?  I’m sceptical.  A number of reviewers cited weak pressure.  One reviewer even commented that the manufacturer offered them money to delete their review! FYI, that’s why I bought the Bergwerk.

2. Sun Joe SPX6001C-XR Cordless Pressure Washer

This one is one of the few cordless pressure washers that come close to bridging the power gap of a typical pressure washer.

Sun Joe has been developing cordless pressure washer for a few years. This model is a further development of their previous model SPX 6000. (They actually have a couple of options so you might peruse their Amazon store to find a good fit). The improvements are mainly on the TSS (total stop system: automatically shuts off pump when trigger is not engaged to save energy and prolong pump life and bucket supply).

The 40V 5.0-Ah battery provides back up for 30-40 minutes in continuous pressure washing, enough for at least a couple car washings.

The top-loading detachable bucket is made better in the new improved model.  This power washer is perfect for a little on the road RV cleaning or any on the road or remote cleaning project. The covers are built better to stop spillage while pulling around.

There are three pressure selections, 507 PSI/650 PSI/800 PSI for the bucket. To achieve the 1160 PSI you need to attach a garden hose with water supply. Your home water pressure is required to get that extra 1160 PSI. As always, the smaller the nozzle angle  the higher the PSI.

3. VARSK Portable 20v Pressure Washer

You can think of this unit as the baby brother to our number one rated Bergwerk above.  The Varsk power washer is a little less PSI for about 2/3 the price.

This unit is get high reviews and at a price point that you don’t need to use it once a week to justify the purchase.

It fills the same light duty use cases as the other two pressure washer reviewed above, just slight less power.

This is not a general use pressure washer.  This is for when your hose sprayer isn’t enough (or unavailable)  and you don’t want to pull out your 3000 psi beast of a pressure washer.  There’s a middle ground for small projects and ultra-convenience where this power washer is a good fit.

4. Worx WO7046 Hydroshot Battery Pressure Washer

Hold on. Are you surprised already? You should be. This so-called truly portable power washer is only 320 PSI pressure generator.

This is the closest one to be called a portable cordless pressure washer available.

Why I considered this model is only because of its portability.

In the current situation, people are looking for a portable option while buying a cordless pressure washer. But even corded ones tend to be portable...

People make a mistake while selecting a cordless one is expecting everything in a budget. While the Worx is great in innovation it lacks in power. If customers are looking for similar performance with a similar price from a corded and cordless one, they are going to be disappointed.

One thing is clear. This Worx cordless pressure washer is truly uber portable, it still  lacks the power to compare with corded power washers.

Let’s have a look at the features:

  • Great portability
  • Lightweight
  • Five spray angles
  • 2 rechargeable batteries with a dual charger 20V – 2 AH
  • Battery backup is about 25 minutes
  • It draws water from any available source
  • Fully Cordless

This thing is not for cleaning your driveway. Or for cleaning heavy stains like paint. You can wash your car, wash away some bird poop or clean your window. A great option for a portable washer.

5.Worx WG644 Power Share Hydroshot 40v Battery Operated Pressure Washer

With this second Worx model (they offer several actually), they did something clever.  Worx offers a lot of cordless tools in their line up and have designed  interoperability into their batteries.  Mix and swap keeps your portable tool working longer and you don’t have 5 different battery types laying around.

So, maintaining the same standard batteries, they combined two 20v batteries into one portable pressure washer to give you a 40v tool without having to invest in new batteries.  This bumps up the specs to 450 PSI and .9GPM

Are Battery Powered Pressure Washers any good?

Yes, battery powered pressure washers are especially good for small jobs where convenience is prioritized over power.

Does the Worx Hydroshot Really Work?

Yes, the Worx Hydroshot does work for small jobs where convenience and light weight are desirable.

How long does the battery last on a Worx Hydroshot?

About 15  to 25 minutes, depending on how heavy your trigger finger.

Should You Get One?

These are not the only models. Some manufacturers like Karcher, Greenworks are manufacturing cordless pressure washers too, but the industry is in it’s infancy.  But that being said, this past year has seen double or triple the number of new power washer available.

These units are super convenient and perfect for light duty washing, rinsing saltwater off your Kayak ect… maybe even a moderate deck cleaning.

But the fact is, your gonna have to drag a hose around for most jobs anyways.  Dragging an extension cord too, really isn’t much more hassle.  If you don’t need anymore water than you can fit in a bucket, then maybe cordless is the way to go…

For light duty and no electrical outlet handy… maybe.   Then again don’t forget  gas power washers are cordless too;)
